LOTE at Mirriwinni State School involves students learning about language structures in Japanese and using these fluently and accurately. Students do this by focusing on different themes for each school-term. Term one's theme is 'meeting and greeting', term two is 'all about Oz', term three is 'eating out' and term four is 'travel'. Students are assessed using a variety of techniques using all of the skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. This is done through a variety of authentic assessment tasks that promote language acquisition and reflection on learning.
